Abstract art is puzzling to many people but many
artists enjoy working with objects and color
in a way that's not "realistic". Besides allowing for
an extended range of creativity,
the focus on symbolism, color, texture, geometry, and shape
goes to the root of a viewer's psyche and evokes unconscious memory and emotion,
which is essentially what art is all about.
Photography is generally considered to be a "realistic" medium but many
photographers
do abstract work, too. Now, with programs like Photoshop, a
photographer
can make all kinds of modifications to an ordinary photo of common objects.
The photos displayed here have all been slightly modified using Photoshop,
but I started with unusual framing and a selection of odd textures, shapes, or
colors. |
